"Unrevealed Sounds of Shaman Rituals"

Gut, or shaman ritual, is a container for our lives. It embraces and cures us through singing, dancing, and storytelling. Each region has its own gut with its own characteristics which have developed in various ways over time-in Seoul there is Gyeonggi Gut, the East Coast has Donghae- an Byeolsin Gut, and Jindo has Ssitkimgut. These recordings are creative works layered onto the original forms of the shaman rituals with reference to the masters' instrumental melodies, vocables, and rhythms. Since haegeum rarely takes the lead in the music that accompanies shaman rituals, these pieces represent a creative departure from tradition and a chance for haegeum to shine.
