"Unrevealed Sounds of Shaman Rituals"
Gut, or shaman ritual, is a container for our lives. It embraces and cures us through singing, dancing, and storytelling. Each region has its own gut with its own characteristics which have developed in various ways over time-in Seoul there is Gyeonggi Gut, the East Coast has Donghae- an Byeolsin Gut, and Jindo has Ssitkimgut. These recordings are creative works layered onto the original forms of the shaman rituals with reference to the masters' instrumental melodies, vocables, and rhythms. Since haegeum rarely takes the lead in the music that accompanies shaman rituals, these pieces represent a creative departure from tradition and a chance for haegeum to shine.

The Singing Haegeum
The album, Lee Seung-Hee: The Singing Haegeum, is composed of minyos (folk songs)
that have been arranged from the traditional vocal focus, to that of the haegeum.
The repertoires of Lee Seung-Hee's solo recital in 2009, seunghee lee flow, songs, fall from my haegeum!,
have been recorded for this album. This album maybe interpreted as a musician's musical journey,
in search for the true value of traditional music, as it revives the unadorned sensibility of
our country's minyo.
Currently as a young artist with a deep passion for traditional music, Lee actively performs as
a member of Jeong Ga Ak Hoe (Korean Traditional Music Players)' and also as a soloist with a sincere devotion to the haegeum. Her distinct vibrancy and refreshing interpretations are prominent in this album that introduces the lively emotions of the Korean people through these regionally freed minyos. It is hoped that through these songs of the haegeum, the joys and sorrows that have penetrated generations, and the beauty of traditional music that is very much like the soil, may be experienced.
